Located in the west part of Guangxi Province, Baise neighbors Guizhou, Yunnan and Vietnam. It is the connection point of the three provinces Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan.

As early as the Paleolithic Age, there were already human beings living in Baise area. The Qing government set Baise City in 1730, when the name of the city appeared in the history. In 1913, it was changed into Baise County. In 1929, Deng Xiaoping and other great leaders started Baise Rebellion against the imperialism and feudality. They created Youjiang Revolutionary Base there. 1983, the county was changed to Baise City again. And in 2002, it was approved to be under the direct control of Guangxi Province.

Most places of Baise are set in mountain areas. The land inclines from high northwest to low southeast. The urban city is a small basin encircled in mountains in all direction.

Baise has not only beautiful scenery, but also profound revolutionary history. As the spot of Deng Xiaoping's Baise Rebellion and Youjiang Revolutionary Base, it is one of the 12 red tourism (revolutionary tourism) spots in China.
